Vacation and Blessed New Year

This week between Christmas and New Year seems like we're on vacation, even if we're at home.  So relaxing...feels great after such a busy summer.  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas day.  We enjoyed a great meal, along with family... and our grandchildren were a joy.   They are so busy and active...when we got upstairs in the evening, you could see what they were busy doing:).  Water spilled on the sheets, and shelves down in the closet...made me smile to think of their fun!  I'll be closed in the shop until May 1, 2012, but if you're needing an item, just knock, if I'm home you're welcome to come in and shop.  Happy New Year and may God bless your days!

Merry Christmas!

Goodmorning friends:  We're getting closer to Christmas, the day we celebrate Christ's birth, every day.  I finally have the house back in order after the open house, and we celebrated Christmas in IL last week-end at our daughter's home with all the families.  We really enjoyed the days there, and now it's good to be home.  We'll have some family here for Christmas dinner and open a few stocking gifts, then I'm looking forward to a relaxing week with all the order's filled for bird's nest.  I received some Bob Ross (the artist) DVD's from the children, and can't wait to get started painting.  It's something I've had on my "bucket list" for quite a while. I still have large swans and a few other gifts available for last minute shopping.  I'm closed, but just knock on the door!   So wishing you all Love, Joy and Peace this Christmas season.   Merry Christmas from Bird's Nest.

Shop Open Two More Days This Year

Welcome to winter again!  I just cleared off the walk and will probably have to do it again in about 5 minutes.  Well, the SHOP IS OPEN TODAY AND TOMORROW yet, so come on out.  It's full of Christmas gifts and decor, along with stocking stuffers and aprons.  I still have a good variety of stone birdhouses, and two feeders left.    We'll be packing everything away next week, but will be opening again in the spring with, hopefully, a full inventory! :)  Of course, you can always order from the shops on this site and have it shipped within a week.  Sounds like I'll have a busy winter getting my inventory back up and thinking of  new and exciting things to make and sell next  year.

Dreary Days and Hot Chocolate

What's so comforting about hot chocolate?  Reminds me of being a child and having it for breakfast every morning.  It's also about the first thing Mom would make for me after I had been sick...it felt so good to be cared for and pampered for a while.  When you become a mom that sort of flies out the window, and you're the one that pampers yourself, but when you get busy.... that doesn't happen.  So don't forget to take some time for yourself, especially on a dreary day like today.  I put the house back together again today, and got the shop in order.  Had some people pick up their orders and items that didn't sell.  It was a good day, and now I'm drinking Hot Chocolate :)

Take a deep breath, relax

The Christmas Open House is over and I have one more week to go until we close the shop for the winter.....time to relax a little and enjoy the grandchildren, and all the wonderful Christmas activities.  Thanks to all those who came out to shop, I loved visiting with you and getting to know you.  Hope to see you all in the spring.   Just got done watching the movie "Rudy"....it inspires a person to keep on giving your all....a fun evening with just my husband, popcorn and a movie.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas......

The Christmas Open House is creeping up faster than I thought...am I going to be ready?  My sister and my friend came on two different days and helped me finish some handmade items; what a boost!  Today I was working alone, and didn't seem to get anything done.  Galen helped me clean house and move furniture around, and I have three vendors coming tomorrow with their things to sell, so I need to put up tables for them yet tonight.  They make handy towels, scrubbies, home-made soap (that my daughter just loves) and handmade baskets.  So if you need any christmas gifts, I'm sure you can find a unique and "good smelling" one here Nov. 25-Dec. 3, 2011, closed on Sunday.  There will be a bake sale too, tonight I made the first batch of peanut brittle (which my brother-in-laws all beg me to make every year....they say it's the best ever.  I guess you'll have to come taste it and see :)

Large Wooden Geese

You won't believe what showed up at Bird's Nest Crafts yesterday...a flock of large wooden geese.  They are really nice, and make for great decorating in the house, or outside.  They'll be here for the Christmas Open House Nov. 25 - Dec. 3, 2011,

Monday, Monday

Shopping on a Monday morning, getting supplies, and browsing for that unique antique that someone NEEDS!  It's all in the "hunt", isn't it??  I'm having fun getting ready for the Christmas Open House coming up the day after thanksgiving through that next week.  I'm trying to create gifts that people will enjoy giving away.  This pillow was one of the latest..."Cherish yesterday, Dream about tomorrow, Live today".

A Star is Born

‎"A star is born"....these and others will be at the Christmas Open House I'm planning at my shop for Nov. 25 - Dec. 3.
The larger stars have little "knots" at the ends. They turned out pretty cute!
